92 4.0 HO won't start

I think i fried the computer i seen smoke come outta this thing under the hood when i went to jump start it. now my headlights and wipers go when i try to turn the key over any help what is this box? is it the computer?

Yes, that is the ECU. Did you hook the jumpers up backwards??

Yep, that is the PCM and you let the Magic Smoke out.

also what years will fit can i use one from a 4.0 thats not High output?

ZERO.

87-90 Renix, not compatible with 91+.

91-95 HO are OBDI, all years may not interchange.

96+ are OBDII, all years may not interchange.
