89xj 4.0 auto. Cranks, has fuel at rail. What is an EASY way to test for spark? Also EASY way to test CPS. It's cold and wet this morning. Gotta go to work soon!

typically if there is no spark you will smell fuel, telling you the cps is telling the injectors to fire, you can check spark by getting a screwdriver in the boot of the plugwire and holding it near a grounded point while someone cranks

or get yourself an inline spark tester. prob like 5 or 10 bucks at auto zone or napa

Or a "spare" spark plug, put the plug wire on it and ground the body of the plug to the engine.

That is usually the way I do it.

You are looking for a strong, BLUE, snapping spark.Yellow/orange/white indicates a weak spark which may not be strong enough to
start the engine.

Here is link to a NAXJA thread that details testing of the crankshaft position sensor.

If you have verified good spark, it is possible that you have good fuel pressure at the rail, but fuel is not getting TO the injectors.
