will an 03 tj tranny work in 90xj

without modifying electronics? i know everything bolts up the same, just wondering about the electronics...will it shift without modification?? if you do have to modify, does anyone know what has to be done?:dunno:

itll bolt to the motor and thats about it.

the auto's they put in tj's are crap anyway compared to the xj aw4. definately not worth the effort playing with electronics, getting a new t-case and tryin to get the little things to work

Yeah, not worth the effort. TJ owners consider an AW4 swap an upgrade...

Not positive, but I think the TJ trans(Chrysler 42RLE, I think) is controlled by the engine control computer(ECU) The XJ trans(the AW-4) is controlled by a stand-alone trans control computer(TCU) The AW-4 TCU will NOT control a chrysler trans.
