Sway bar help

So during the winters I put my sway bar back on because due to the snow and everything I like having the sway bar connected. Then during the summer I pull it off because I dont like disconnecting everytime I go wheeling. During the summer I built the jeep up a little more, I went from a 4" lift to a little over a 5.5" I had RE discos and was going to mod them to work, but after I pulled my sway off during the summer I sold my relocation brackets, and now I cant get the sway bar to fit because it hits the coils. What else can I do other then buying a new relocation bracket? I was thinking about cutting the sway bar up, take a inch off the end then weld it back together since I have fab skills and the tools needed. Would that be ok or no? What can I do?
