Coil spring bumpstops

The rubber part at the end of my front bumpstops inside the coil springs is almost gone on the passenger side. Does the bumpstop unscrew or is there some other day to replace it that doesn't require welding?

Since I get tire/fender contact I'm going to jb weld some hockey pucks or wood pucks to the spring bucket. I guess I would just have to add more pucks if I was going to run the bumpstop without the rubber there. Would that be ok?

yes it unscrews

yes it unscrews

Thanks man, is it just the rubber that unscrews or the rubber and metal part together? If there arent any good ones at the PnP I guess I will just add some extra pucks.

Another question. Instead of buying hockey pucks and jb weld, what about using a block of wood that's too long to fall out of the coil spring when flexing? Do you all think it would crack or break? Any kind of wood to use that would be stronger? I have a carpenter friend who has a lot of pressure treated scrap pieces that I could try.

Wow you're joking right?

check out prothane coil inserts.

No, not joking. Free or PnP cheap is the goal. But I do have an amazon gift code I need to use.

Would this work? It's for a TJ. I could sell the ones for the rear.

Otherwise this is the only product that fits my 89 XJ according to Amazon, and it's Daystar.

Are your front bumps the screw in type for sure? There was two types, and I have seen both on multiple years.

The product in the first link wont work, those are for a budget boost.

If it is a screw in type, you will need to make some kind of adapter , or extend the cup that the bump sits in and attach it firmly somehow to use the type in your second link. This is still not a great option, they work marginally with the non-screw in type.

Here is a link to the thread on the prothanes:

And a pic of how I did my top plate:

Late model '97 and up for sure pull out, while twisting. Not sure where the break over year is for the screw in ones...

My 96 has the same press in style ones.
