How to replace front calipers?

Hello, I have never replaced my front calipers on my 1999 4.0 180,000 jeep xj.

I have done the front and rear brakes, rotors ect no problem.

I was wondering if I would need any special tools or greases to do the calipers or would I have to bleed the brakes when done.

Any tips on how to do the job or level of difficulty would be appreciated.

Thanks

You will have to bleed the brakes when you are done. No real special tools, just a lug wrench, socket wrench sized for the brake line banjo bolt, and a 12 or 13mm (forget which) socket for the caliper bolts. If you can replace a rotor you will have no problems replacing a caliper.

Make sure you use new copper crush washers between the banjo bolt and the brake line, and between the brake line and the caliper. That and bleeding the brakes are the only real important things you need to know. Oh, and go easy on the caliper bolts because the threads really like to strip out of the knuckles if you torque them too much.
