Front End Clicking to Clunking

I started having clicking noises coming from the drivers side front wheel area. It matches driving speed. The faster I drive the faster and louder the noise. It became progressively worse from a click to a loud clunking and sounds like my front end was going to fall apart. I mashed on the brakes and it went away for the last mile to get home. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad unit bearing or u-joint. Jack the wheel up off the ground and try moving it, watch which pieces are loose.
