Shortening steering column?

Is it possible to shorten the steering column to move the wheel closer to the instrument cluster?

It would be easier to modify the seat tracks to allow the seat to go back further....

Besides alot of cutting and welding?The electric's would be easy,it would be the fitment of all the column trim that would be tricky(you didn't state a year).

you might be able to adapt a telescoping colum from another GM

lot of work but probably doable
