SO i have a 89 Cherokee, 4.0, automatic with about 4.5 inch lift.

A couple weeks ago my brother and I were out and about playing in some mud. A couple days later I noticed Iwas leaking ps fluid out of the gear box where it attaches to the pitman arm. Now before I go and buy a new box, is it possible to use this part http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=NPS7205_0135902752 and try to fix the leak or should I do what the someone was trying to tell me and buy a new one? :helpme:

You'll need a pitman arm puller and a good set of snap rings to install those. however, it would be a much cheaper fix than to buy a whole new box.

You can get new seals for around $15 at Autozone or any good auto parts store.

Any updates?
I need to make a decision on whether to rebuild or put in a new rack.

Favoring the rebuild cause I am cheap and pretty good at rebuilding stuff.

Any sugguestions?
Special tools needed: Pitman arm puller, snap ring pilers, anything else?

I see in FSM, they rebuilt the unit while it was still installed on jeep. good idea?

Oh ya. My shop is brooklyn streets.

OR rebuild a JY unit then swap it in?
