At 9am, oct 16th, we will be leaving the Fire station at the entrance to Longwater gulch, Metberry gulch, and Hackett gulch... the "plan" is to start at Hackett , then move onto long water , then move onto Metberry..... 3 trails in 1 day.

we do our best to also announce our trail runs on facebook on Colorado 4 Wheeling.

We havent run these since 1 week before the fire... so we have no idea what to expect.

Driving Directions

From Denver, take I-25 exit 187 to Happy Canyon Road. Follow this south to Highway 85 west to Sedalia. Turn south on Highway 67 and follow this all the way through Deckers and through Westcreek to turn west on County Road 68 (Stump Road) just west of Pine Lake. This is where the fire station is and where we will be meeting up... Stump Road.

Better doublecheck with the BLM/Forrest Service before planning a Longwater/Hacket trip.

are the trails closed again? or will they have a fit if a group of rigs go wheeling? this isnt a sanctioned event or anything - simply an open invite for anyone who wants to go wheeling up there but doesnt want to go wheeling alone.

Opening these trails has been a very long and slow political process that has taken 100's of hours of volunteer time and years to achieve. It may be difficult to see the cable closure across the trails, but please respect the closures. With enough patience, energy, and time, we believe the trails will open down to the river.
