Dumb Wheel Question

This may be the dumb question of the day but on a 8" wide wheel would 4" of backspacing be the same as zero offset?

Almost, but not quite. Offset is based on the centerline as measured from outside lip to outside lip, whereas the wheel width is measured from bead surface to bead surface. If you measure an 8" rim, they are actually about 9" wide lip to lip, making the centerline about 4.5" of backspace. 0 offset on an 8" rim is about 4.5", and 4" backspace on a 8" rim will be about -13mm.

Ok....thanks guys!!!! I didnt realize that on was measured off of the lip rather than the bead. I was looking at wheels and was kinda confused because it would ask for either backspacing or offset but when I entered in both it would tell me that measurements where in correct.
