Is my D30 twisted?

Here's what I'm dealing with.
Driver's side:

Passenger side:

The spring on the passenger side is starting to rub on the quick disco. The spring was always a little forward and when I switched to adjustable short arms on my drop brackets I was not able to fix the problem. I don't have an angle finder bracket so I can't check the perches that way. Is it likely that the axle is twisted or can the spring mount on the body be twisted? The spring on the passenger side also likes to pop out of its grove and sit on top of the cutout that is supposed to keep the spring from rotating.

If the axle tube is twisted is there any easy fix to the problem other than either swapping a new axle or buying a new bracket set from Clayton and install them while the axle is still under the jeep?

Are you sure your adjustable short arms are the same length from side to side?

the bumpstop towers are known to bend after a decent amount of use. i cant tell from the pictures, but you probably could my lookin closely at them and/or measuring.

This......make sure they are both the same length and the axle is clocked correctly

The adjustable arms are plus or minus a turn or two from side to side. I was hoping that the bump stop tower isn't bent... I'll have to do some closer inspecting and measuring, then look up the thread where a member fixed his.

I doubt anything is bent,Ive seen this many times. Its as if the pass/drivers sides are not built symetrical.

Mine is the same way, I think it has to do somewhat with the upper control arm mount on the passenger side being a bit forward from the factory, and the upper control arm on that side being a bit too long.

I've seen this before. Most likely your acle is fine and you just need to adjust your control arms. Also make sure your springs are seated correctly on the axle and that the tab holding them on is tight.

Mine looks the same way, my passenger side lca is bent up a bit and pulled the axle in bending the coil

is this bad? cuz ive been running it like this for about a year

is it the bracket or the LCA itself?

If it's the bracket, it's waiting to break off...

I have put the spring back into its pocket a few times already, but after just a few miles (excellent new England roads) the spring will jump back out. The spring clamp is still tight, I even replaced the stock bolt thing with a 3/8 bolt.
All of the mounts are still welded in place and I don't see any cracks in the welds. I will try to make the lower arms longer since the uppers are already adjusted all the way in.

Did you actually measure the arms, or just count threads?

Also, as the top buckets cave in the bumpstops usually angle forward not back due to the direction of force applied to the coil.

have you checked the caster on the axle? you shouldn't just eyeball it and change the arm lengths to where you think they look right, it can cause all sorts of problems. your arms should be adjusted according to the caster angles from side to side, not just set at the same length so they are equal. Setting them up the same length is a good start but not a final measurement.

I used a stock set of control arms with about 6k miles and a pair of bolts to set the length. It seemed like the most accurate way to do it at the time. I have not checked the caster on the axle yet. I was more concerned with the spring hitting the quick disconnect but I will have to do that.

I noticed a similar issue with my springs after I lifted the vehicle. I have had a XJ specialist look at it and they said it is a frequent issue with Cherokees that become more apparent when lifted. My control arms match and the alignment is correct. It tracks stright, so I have just lived with it for years.

Thanks,
Fred
