Engine Lift

New question pertaining to my starter.

Its an 88 Comanche pioneer 4 cyl and the the third bolt on the starter is not reachable because of the engine. I've been referencing the Haynes manual and am now going to attempt to lift the engine. Does this sound right? Other people have no trouble, i really cant imagine what i over looked but i seriously cant find any other way to get it out it just seems like an awful amount of work for a starter...
