will they fit? i want more room on my front bumper. i really dont want to cut the caps on it now. will 96- fit any pics? thanks

96- bumper caps on 97+ xj bumpers

Well, the pre96 caps are not as wide, as the older bumper is wider than the newer. I guess it could possibly work, but tires will probably rub the ends.

The bumpers are contoured differently as well- maybe swap a 96- bumper? Never paid any attention to see if they mount differently.

ive done it...
removed the air damn at the bottom to gain ground clearance. chopped my fenders and didnt want to cut the stock end caps. thought it looked tacky. bumper contour is different. fitting an older bumper would be easy, its only 4 bolts that hold it on. the older caps will bolt right on. if your fitting the end caps to your newer style bumper, just point and shoot. there isnt much to it.
fresh paint and it looks mint.
