diameter for dana 30 internal tube sleeve

I am going to pick up some 2"x1/4 tubing to sleeve the inside of my dana 30 axles tubes. I want to get it turned on a lathe to true up the external diameter and bring it down a bit so it slides in easy enough.

I know this had been done before but I couldn't find any info searching, how many thou should I take off the tube? I am not doing it myself so I don't want to find out it is too big and take it back.

from that thread, looks like 1.980 OD for a clearance fit... your mileage may vary depending on rustiness etc. Could also depend on the year / batch of tube the factory got that day. Really I'd measure to make sure.

PM Cal for some advice, he did this and it seems he had some issues with the process.
