No Bus/no fuel

01 XJ. Jeep won't start, after cranking I get a No Bus message and CEL, none of the gages are working, but the idiot lights do. After trying a few things I found that I'm not getting fuel, the pump isn't kicking on. I don't have access to a Volt/Ohm meter, and I don't want to just start throwing parts at it. With the No Bus, would that mean it's the ECU not sending power to the pump, the pump is done for, or is it just a generic message?

Talyn's link has it right, the usual culprit is a shorted crank sensor.
