Driving with no front driveshaft

I've read through the forums and have narrowed down a problem to my front drive shaft. I noticed that it has been mentioned that I should remove the drive shaft and see if the problems go away. I am curious how long it is safe to drive without the front drvie shaft in place. Im thinking i'll pull the shaft, see if the problem goes away, and then fix the shaft, but it may be a few weeks before i can get it back in. I just dont want to make anything worse by not having it in there.

88 XJ 4.0L, NP242, stock.

it will be fine, just dont put it in 4wd

You can no worrys. I have, and put it in 4wd. I drove for a month or so with out it actually.

My XJ have no front shaft since early 2008. I have since made two trips from Miami to Connecticut and one to Mississippi. No problems here.

You could run without a front DS forever with no issues, till you need it.

In an Cherokee it will be fine. In a Grand with full time I am pretty sure it has to be there.

93-95 ZJ Yes. 96-98 ZJ no. the 249 changed in 96.
