Decided since I don't have the money for a lift or anythig yet I'll start on the free stuff. That being cutting the crap out of my XJ. This is my inspiration:

from what I can tell, I'm gunna need to cut a couple inches towards the front of the rear window, but leave the C pillar in place. As for the hatch, I'm going to just remove it, and save it till the end of the build. I THINK I should be able to get the hatch to fit back onto the jeep, behind the rear seat, and weld it in as a back window. Or maybe make it to where it still opens? Not sure on the tail lights yet, I'll figure that out later

any advice/suggetions would be appreciated. This is my first high modification build. Everything else has been straight bolt up and go.

What year do you have? 96 and earlier have a fiberglass hatch.

God I love cheromanches.

It won't quite be free, since you'll need to reinforce the body somewhat. But maybe you can get free metal, then you're set.

use a 2 door... they look bettter.

but if you want a subaru baja, go for it. and even if you have an early model with the fiberglass hatch you can always pick up a late model hatch or possibly find a manche to molest for the back window and tail gate.

I'm gunna stick with a four door since that's what I have. I realized the hatch is fiberglass so not sure what I'm gunna do there yet. Gunna take some measurements and see what this is gunna look like

good luck with doing that free. your looking at alot of work. hopefully you can weld! the lights he has arent cheap. the options are endless with this mod. a explorer hatch from a junkyard will be your best bet because the window opens and you can get a metal one, i cant remember what years. i would have 750 dollars before i went into this one saved up. that may be overkill but why get half way then get stuck and held up due to funds.

plus if you do this it will look stupid at stock height with stock size tires. the best thing you can do is just wait and save money!

Eh. Free just means I can do most of it with what I already have. I'm not gunna use expensive tail lights. I can weld and stuff so it make take a while but I think I can do it. It's a pretty big job for being 19 lol
