BG vs. Lucas?

Doing an oil change tomorrow and I was planning on using Lucas Oil Stabilizer. Someone had made a suggestion about using BG MOA instead. I have no experience with it though. Can someone chime in and give some details and your experience between the two?

Vehicle in question: 2001 xj, 4.0, 126180 miles. typical seeping rear main and valve cover gasket.

If you fix the valve cover gasket, you may not see any oil around the rear main seal area anymore......... BTW, they're both good products.

They're both snake oil IMNSHO. The lubricant companies already put a ton of engineering into their products. There's no reason to add a "stabilizer" or anything else.

If it was that good, wouldn't the lubricant companies have figured it out and started putting it in from the factory? The short answer is that they already have! Modern oils already have a sophisticated and optimized additive package right off the shelf!

What's actually IN Lucas, or Marvel Mystery Oil, or any of those products? Why don't engine manufacturers recommend them?

Plenty of 4.0's have gone 200, 300k miles on nothing but dino oil changed every 3000 miles. If you really care about your engine, buy a premium oil and change it frequently. If you are really anal, get a bypass filter and glue a little magnet to your drain plug.

Bottom line; aftermarket oil additives might actually damage your engine and are a waste of money at best.

If the leaking is really your main concern, you might try a product specifically for oil leaks, like Bars. I still don't think it's the best thing for the longevity of your engine.

I really like the STP oil treatment. It is just a bottle of zinc. The other two are ok but not necessary. Lucas now has a break in lube as well with lots of ZDDP.

And all those new oils with lots of research put in, keep taking the ZDDP polymers out. Good for new motors, bad for old ones.

That's because zinc destroys your cat.
