about to buy a dana 44 got a few Q's.

Okay so I can score a decent price on a dana 44 from a j10. Don't know the year or the ratio but it does have disc brakes and is a six lug. It measures 64 in wms to wms. Anyhow I'm hoping that this will fit under my 92xj without too much work(ie. shortening). I've read on the FSJ(full size jeep) forums that some years of the J10 had tapered axles and I was wondereing how I can tell if this is one of those or not? Also how do I figure out if this has vacuum disconnect or not, I've seen a pic of the axle and they're aren't any hoses coming from /going to the pumpkin.

2 things,1-tapered axles were used on rear axles,2-are you sure its a drivers side drop?

From the pic that I have seen it is. Why is a drivers side drop rare in a J10. Please excuse my noobiness.
