Why is this steering kit '91+? How to fit?

My XJ is an '88. I understand some of the steering linkage is smaller on my model year, but assumed this kit would bolt right in. Anybody know if it would? Are the knuckles or other mounts not suitable with this kit? I still may get it just to see unless someone here can explain why it wouldn't work...

should work fine. i bolted up all new ZJ stuff to my 90 without modifying anything

That's what I was hoping to hear. Are distributors or manufacturers just covering their behinds in case it wouldn't fit? I don't really get it. Oh well.

Where did you get our all-new ZJ setup?

Any parts store. Make sure and get the V8 steering for 94-98, bolts right up.

It works fine in my '90 but I also did the goferit tie rod flip at the same time so I had to modify the drivers side sway bar mount. Buy it from Rompalicious, you won't be sorry! I had mine in 3 days and the shipping is free.
