Removing Cruise

Is there a way to remove cruise control, temporarily, from a 98 XJ, 4.0? I ask because every time the light kicks on is when my speed sensor decides to throw the jeep into limp mode. i disconnected the wires at the cervo but the light stayed on. any ideas?

dont turn the cruise on ?

Must be a fuse or relay for it.

the cruise does not even work when i try to use it. it is very random and gets annoying having to stare at the lights when only going 20 in town here. i tried pulling the fuse as well but the dang light still comes on...
