Heater /AC fan works only on high

'96 XJ Sport, manual everything
Went to put the defrost on yesterday and it wouldn't blow except on high. Would it be a bad fan switch? Or something by the fan motor?
I've had ocassional noise coming from the blower, like something is scraping ie: fan blade hitting a housing.

The blower motor resistor is shot. Replace that and the blower motor and you should be good. A search will net you lots of info on how it go about it, it's common repair.

Easy to replace (about 10 minutes tops) and pretty cheap to replace as well ($20-25).
