ok here is the deal went to put my xj on the trailer to go on a ride started it up then it died went to restart it and nothing checked fire wasnt their so started changing parts here is the list distributor, cap, rotor button, wires, plugs, coil, ignition control (top of colum),neutural saftey switch, crank position sensor, and finally the ecm still no fire what the hell could use some help out of parts to change also went threw the fuses and relays nothing got fire to the engine...also changed the mas airflow sensor

Put all the old parts back on. More than likely something else is wrong. Any of those new parts you put on could have been bad.

And you didn't tell us anything to get any good information back.

What does "nothing checked fire wasn't their" mean? No spark, no gas, no crank???????? What year? 4.0 auto??

if it won't crank, its usually the NSS, if it cranks but won't spark, its usually the CPS. It looks like you changed everything out, did you use new parts or used ones?

What are the specs on your XJ? year, engine, etc

i used all new parts... the jeep is a 92 4dr 4.0 4x4..i got gas just dont have any spark checked all the relays yesterday...even checked the auto shutdown relay ...about to take it the middle of the field and dump gas on it with one match

so its cranking over, but no start? when you put the new distributor in are you sure it was indexed correctly? how did you check spark? did you pull a wire and put it by a grounded piece of metal, or pull the plug and look at it?

Do you have power to the ASD relay?

Do you have power from the ASD relay to the coil?

yes its cranking but no fire...checked the fire with a screwdriver to a grounded part..nothn from it ...yes got power to and from the asd backside of the coil has power just not gettting any fire

the only thing left is the CPS is either not mounted properly and isn't getting a reading from the ring gear on the flex plate, or it is faulty. Check the connections to the CPS and trace the wires going to and from it. Do you have a meter to check the ohm readings off the CPS?

Well, what ohm reading did you get off the CPS/CKP sensor?
