Vandalism…We need your help
Recently, vandals damaged a large sign at Reiter Foothills Forest.
Acts of vandalism like this cost us all money and time by diverting funds away from our main focus of providing recreation opportunities for everyone. DNR must buy materials and rent equipment for major repairs. And both DNR and volunteer time are spent fixing things. Funds used to repair damage are also used for restoration and trail development.
If you see suspicious activities in the woods, please call 911 or DNR’s Northwest region office at 360-856-3500. Visit the DNR Law Enforcement webpage for more information.
Progress Report
Thanks to the 19 hearty souls who came out last Saturday, April 3, to work on projects at Reiter Foothills, including taking time to repair the sign damaged by vandals. Read more about work done that day and what to expect at upcoming work parties—including a free chainsaw safety training—on our blog at:

Volunteers have also been working with DNR staff to map streams, potential crossing points, and verify some possible trail locations. In addition, some features have been identified and mapped that may offer special technical recreational opportunities such as rock crawling for four-wheel drive vehicles. DNR is also completing work on the analysis of the public comments on the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) checklist, which we hope to share with the public later this month.
What’s next
DNR is developing detailed draft concepts for motorized and non-motorized trails, which will be reviewed at the upcoming focus group meetings. After additional development, these concepts will be shared with the general public before they are finalized. Please call me at 360-854-2803 for more information.

If you’re interested in helping at Reiter Foothills Forest, we can always use volunteers to help with restoration work and trail planning, construction, and maintenance projects. For more information, contact David Way, 360-854-2830 or [email protected].
