Can I recommend a couple of things?
1. Use counter sunk hardware so they don't get ripped out.
2. If you can "form" the flat sheet it will provide MUCH more strength against future damage.
3. If you provide depth to the "form" in the form of a light box or mounts behind the tail light it will provide MUCH more strength again.
the flat sheet was concaved "formed" a little but i'm not worried about it... i will use counter sunk hardware just mocking it up.. also will box in the tails and use led's. but for now i can run stock tails with a little protection
I'd also try to put a hole in the side over the taillight. Pretty sure it's law to have the light back there visible from the side. Not anything big, just enough to say it's there to cover your butt when pulled over.
