E-fan breaking retaining clips

1988, 6cyl.

When I picked up my MJ a while back, the retaining clip on the e-fan broken which allowed the fan blades to come off the spindle.

I got another clip on there and the clip broke again after a while.

Any idea what would cause the clip failure? Wobbly fan motor or something?

That is what I would suspect, especially after you fixed it once.
