E tire rating?

I'm looking to get new tires, something in the 32-33" range but I like a slightly narrower tire so I was looking at LT285/75R16 in trxus mt's but I'm aware of the drawback of running a D rated tire, however these have an E rating. I tried searching here and google but I didn't really come up with anything useful as to what the difference is between a D and E rating. Anyone else know??

I run E tires on my dodge 1-ton. They have a higher load rating. I don't know If I'd run them on an Xj for trail use. Just cause they handle more weight don't think they have a tougher sidewall.

Stock jeep rubicon MT/R's from 03-06 were an E rated tire.

If a wrangler does ok on them, an XJ will too.
