Starter bolts torque

on a 2000 4.0.
Install both bolts, torque the front bolt to 30 ft lb and then the rear bolt to 35 ft lb.
Sounds strange but that's how the manual reads.

the manual doesn't indicate loctite, but it wouldn't hurt to use some blue.

Cool, I've been searching but must be looking in the wrong places. I do not have a manual either. That's not much torque, i would suppose loc-tite is recommended?

Recommended by FSM? No. Recommended by me? Yes.

I've spent an awful lot of time retorquing starter motor screws - just put #242 (or equivalent) on the threads, torque, and call it a day.

Don't forget to clean the threads, Loc-tite hates dirty threads.
