Just swapped a 90' cherokee renix 4.0 with an aw4 into a 90 Wrangler. Trans computer is wired getting power and shifting but when it gets in 3rd the rpms go up and down,Like the TC is not locking up. I do not have the brake switch hooked up, Would that make a difference? Nor do i have the comfort power button hooked up, What does it default too?

While its been doing this, ive only got into 4th once and then it came right back out and did the same thing.

Tps is new and been adjusted to spec.

I'm going to to unplug the TCU and manually shift it, to see if it still does it.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes. On a 90, the trans computer needs to see the switch closed (ie shorted) or it will think you have applied the brake and not lock up the t/c. You might have to use a relay in the YJ since the normal brake switch closes when the brake is applied.
