Swapping 5 speed to A-4 auto

What all has to be done ot swap a 5 speed Puegot to an A-4 auto. 87/88
swap ? If possible I could use all the problems involved unless it is what
most consider not worth the swap. Thanks

Searching might be easier if you called it an AW-4 auto.

Check out http://stu-offroad.com/engine/aw-4/aw-4-1.htm and http://stu-offroad.com/engine/aw4.htm for an idea what you're in for. You're going to need to determine whether you want to use an older AW-4 with the 21-spline output similar to your current setup, or a newer one so you can use a 23-spline t-case.

To me it was worth the swap. Best bet is to find a donor vehicle(matching years helps) so you have all the little parts needed. Brackets, cables, tranny cooling lines, flex plate, shifter parts and floor mounts, TPS, wiring harness for the TCU and a ton of other stuff. I did it last winter and glad I kept the donor vehicle untill everything was running.

Alot nicer on the rocks with the auto, and got rid of my crappy BA10.
