NP231 Front output shaft rear bearing removal?

so i'm fixing to do a overhaul on my 23-spline short-input np231j case out of my 93 xj. im looking at the needle bearing the holds the back end of the front output shaft. it seems to pound into a recess in the back half of the case how should I get it out?

my only idea so far is to pry the rollers out then try and grab the lip with vice grips and tear it up till it comes out? am i on the right track? or is there a better way?

well FSM seems to suggest that there was once a puller in existence, i have no idea what kind of puller it would be or where to get one..

any bright ideas?
