OEM tire carrier

how big of a tire will it fit? max width also please thinking of picking one up for my 31x 10.5's but want to go to 33"s soon, would it be worth the effort or will it need modifying, don't know what year it's from yet but putting it on my 96

31's about the max recommended.

I'll chime in on the older style (attaches to the bumper and 1/4 panel):
installed the second week of January and driven a total of 600 miles--

33X12.50X15 (3.75" BS) fits, but I've not run it long enough to decide if it's a good idea yet. Everything I read says 31" is the max due to weight, but I don't see any problems with street driving it as is. I'll probably reinforce things before off roading it much.
