Everyone knows I dont wheel, so why would I do a run?

My only request is that the runs end before the 20th of August as I have to go back to school then. I would love to actually make a SierraFest since I have missed the last three.

I'm putting together my junk here piece by piece (as it is I barely feel safe driving it on the street right now) and about to have a baby but I'm going to try to make it. This will be my first naxja run if eveything works out. I'm looking forward to it.

Well I turn 30 at the end of July and was going to go wheeling with some friends. But have sense realized I don't have any, so I might as well go wheeling with you guys....

If we are also going to run Strawberry or anything else I imagine we will have to move camp at least once?

So were you all thinking of the ability of setting out different groups to different trail difficulties or everyone stick together?

Or how about running the Rubicon back to Buck or Pardeo during the week then head over Strawberry. Then Deer Valley and Slick Rock that weekend, when most can make it?

Just an idea and I could lead a trail if need be

Barney Riley Trail (http://www.californiajeeper.com/barney/review.htm) is near the 4 and 89 junction and looks like it could be fun?

Letterman
February 19th, 2010, 16:49
The reason for Sierra Fest to be in this area was there are a few trails close by:
Barney Riley Trail
Corral Hollow
Deer Valley Trail
Pardoe Trail
Slick Rock Road
Strawberry Trail

Some trails are for the stock rigs like Corral and some are little more advanced.

XJensen
February 23rd, 2010, 19:05
That's what I figured. I would be willing to lead or help out with a Pardoe run if that's a trail we decide to do, although it takes a long time to run.

I have heard there is a trail running off Squaw Ridge back to the 88 although when I was up there is had started snowing pretty heavy and I couldn't tell.

Hey ya'all: I hav enot been very active on the board lately because I have been absolutely SALAMMED at work and at home. By the time I get some time I just want to go to bed. Sorry for being such a slacker, I know a lot of you are looking forward to this run and need a date to request vacation time and so on. I promise I will have more info by the end of next week and we will get this party started.

XJensen - THANK YOU for stepping up. You rock :-) Like I said above I will have final dates set soon.

Letterman

Looks like the dates are set:
SierraFest 2010 July 21-25, 2010

Or is that wrong?

SharkXJ
February 26th, 2010, 15:56
Nope not wrong.

However, would it be ok with everyone if the run was moved to the week of July 12th? Would that still work you guys?

On another note:
There is a rumor going around my work that we might be shut down the entire 4th of July week and we will probably shut down for a week around Christmas. That will come to 56 hours of vacation and as of right now I only have 60 hours vacation. If we do not shut down for 4th of July week I should be ok, if we don't, I am hosed. SO... that means there is a small chance I will not be able to take the Wednesday & Thursday off as I had hoped for SierraFest.

As a group we have a couple of options:
1. Keep SierraFest to Wednesday thru Sunday and someone take the lead for Wednesday & Thursdays runs.
2. We cut the trip down to runs on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Again - Sorry for not having more info up sooner. I have been beyond slammed.

Thanks,
Mark

The run will definitely be Wednesday July 21st thru Sunday July 25th. Base camp will be at Dinkey Creek, off of highway 4 near Lake Alpine. Saturday night will be the Dinner and Raflle. Maybe we can have a potluck on Thursday or Friday Night?

As of right now, the runs for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are open. We can take a vote as we get closer to the date to see what other trails we want to run and if they are over nighters. We are going to run Deer Valley on Saturday and Slick Rock on Sunday, both of these runs will be day runs. I probably won't be able to do an over nighter at any of the other trails because I will need to stay with the loot at Dinkey Creek.

That's about it for now :-) This should be a kick ass run.

I will post up more details as we get closer.

If you have any quetions hit me up.

The only cost (outside of the normal food & gas) is for Dinner on Saturday Night (probably $10), raffle tickets and any Sierra Fest gear you want to buy.

So.. maybe an official thread on when/where this thing is being held?!

To quickly answer your question.

We are meeting the first day, Wed July 21 on the Highway 50 trailhead for Strawberry (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=38.791066,-120.152108&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=17&sll=38.791055,-120.151269&sspn=0.004073,0.006791&ie=UTF8&ll=38.789215,-120.156183&spn=0.032581,0.054331&z=14).

We will be camping every night at Hermit Valley Campground (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=38.538235,-119.89818&geocode=&hl=en&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=38.53729,-119.898713&sspn=0.008174,0.013583&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16) off Highway 4 near Lake Alpine. So if you plan on meeting up after Wed then we will be at Hermit.

Now to get A LOT of stuff done before trip.
Fix a few leaks VC,Oil Filter, TC, plate frame rails w/3/16"x3" angle iron, possibly rocker replacement, check rear brakes & replace rear axle seal, change fluids F&R diff trans & PS, buy diff covers, check front axle u-joints, check rear leaf springs, and finally get CB hooked up.

But before all that I need to finish helping buddy with his ZJ 5.5" LA, SYE, frame rail plating, RMS, VC, O.F. adapter, trans input seal, and motor mount

All the while going to Kansas for a week.
