01 head 0331 casting?

searched. But only have enet on my phone and its slow as shit and just got sick of it. changed my head gasket. It was a mopar sheet metal one. Looked bad well got it all back together put walmart oil in it to clean it out . Ran it for 10ish minutes changed it and put rotella and a wix on. 2 today (next day) checked the oild and it was milky. Obviously a cracked head. Were does everybody get their new ones from and how much? any type of warranty? thanks everybody
 
Clearwater Cylinder Head and Alabama Cylinder Head are two places that carry heads that are beefed up and not subject to cracking between 3-4 like the factory head can. Warranties and price varies from what I've read. Call them or check their websites for details.

Or you can find a 2003 or newer head from a Wrangler or a Grand (TUPY head) that should also bolt on.
 
More than a few guys have posted that they can see the crack or cracks. It's worth a try IMHO.

Pull the valve cover, get a good light and check it out.

Concentrate on the area between 3-4. That is the weak spot in the casting and the VAST majority crack there.
 
alright thanks have to give that a shot tommorow night. now got another question i completely rebuilt thos motr about 5 to 6000 miles ago. I had the valves all ground and everything. would those places sell just the head? no guts and take my head to the guy that did my old one and install all my valves etc? or do you think it would be cheaper to just get a whole head alabame or the other place?
 
I bought an improved casting w/ 2 year warranty from J&W Enterprises in WV for $369 shipped.

Didnt really see any clarification anywhere on the 03 and up head is that a direct bolt in?
 
I didn't see a crack on top of the old head(172K), but this is one of those times where you have to shell out an additional $100 or else it's gonna be haunting you. I screwed up--it's J&C, not J&W:
