Lock-Right install on Dana 35 non c-clip

I just got my powertrax lock-right locker (P/N 2310S2).

I am hoping to install it in the rear axle of my 1989 XJ. I believe the rear axle is a Dana 35, non c-clip, 27 spline, 3.08 ratio. The part number stamped on the axle tag is 53003516.

Given its a non-c-clip axle (if I am right), there is a possibility that the ring gear is too thick to slide the pinion shaft out, which means I will have to take out the carrier.

Anyone know if that is true? And, anyone done this on this particular axle and have any hints or tips?

I did it in my 88 non-c clip and you dont have to take out the carrier.
Just need to slip the copilot axle a litle bit out.

Agree to the above posts..well, except the one about the locker.

It works just fine for me, and has been for 4 yrs.....

I did have to remove one of the carrier bearing caps to get the pin out for the stock cross shaft tho

mine is also an 88 non-clip d35
