35x14 tire question

Ok, so i found a nice cheap set of 35 x 14 ground hawgs that im thinking of snagging up. However im a bit worried about the 14 inch width.. does anyone have input on tires this wide? or a photo of an xj with these monster wide tires on it?
 
I would guess that more driving surface = lower MPG. If your running stock axles, the heaver tires will put more stress on an already weak link. but everybody loves the look of tires sticking way out of the fenders!

I wish. The fronts are 30 year old, cut down spicer shafts. with new joints and full circle clips. Rears are stock xj44. It helps that I have a auto and take it easy. No breakage yet. I'll swap in one tons before I buy cromos. sorry for the high jack.
 
good call. haha I'm running 35's on my junk. but DAMN those 14.5's look huge!!!
