89 XJ...the sending unit it completely bonkers. There's a broken wire or 10 in the there. Is there anywhere that sells just the sending unit? The pump is good, and was recently replaced. All the big box stores sell pump/sending unit packages...but this part can't cost more than $5-6 by itself. It's just a piece of plastic :dunno:

Best source is part-out or junkyard. Damn things are expensive new, the one in my Cadillac costs $150 from autozone without pump.

Might not be the sending unit. Could be the wires in between or even the ground for the gage (near the pump). test with multimeter.

Well, rockauto.com has the whole assembly with an Airtex pump included for $134 (IIRC). But Airtex is not considered to be a good brand.

I got mine through a dealer as I'm swapping an old carb'd tank into another Jeep project, and the sending unit was less than $100...might want to give a few local dealers a call.
