xj high oil pressure

92 xj 4.0 auto with high oil pressure Haven't seen any leaks and had no problems the gauge just goes off the hook. What's up any ideas

oil pressure sending unit is shot. New ones about $25.

Second thought, (cheaper) make sure its pugged in. Its down by the oil filter, and is easily damaged during an oil change, at least with my fat hands!!

#1 cause of this is a faulty oil pressure sending unit. As mentioned, verify and clean connector.

If that checks out, spring for a new sending unit. I highly recommend purchasing this sending unit directly from Jeep for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. Aftermarket stuff is kind of hit and miss.
