interior gas line cover

I removed the cover for the gas line in the trunk that is under the carpet on the drivers side to do some rust repair. Now that I am ready to put the cover back on I cannot find any place that has the seal, they all tell me it is out production.

Could I use regular RTV sealant ?

Regular RTV or any weatherproof foam rubber gasketing material should work fine. You're talking about that piece of pressed sheetmetal right? No big deal, I'd probably even use window/door caulking if it was all I had on hand, just make sure you put paint/primer on all the edges before sticking it down so it won't rust again.
