This noise wont go away!

Hey,

so my friend and I installed an axle out of the junkyard and put in new u bolts and all. This clunking noise I get when I get off the gas is STILL there. I dont know what else it could be. What are the chances of the driveshaft being bad or something in the t case. I am lost and dont know what to do.

Can be a universal joint. If this noise came about just after replacing chancing are there's too much play between ring and pinion.

well we replaced the axle because of this noise however, it didnt go away. Its not as bad tho now but it is so annoying and i want it taken care of.

What is the condition of the transmission mount?

Pull the drive shaft and play with the u-joints, check for how they feel and listen to them.

Have you greased the drive shaft slip joint with some heavy grease?

joe_peters, i havent checked the tranny mount and think that that is possibly it. I can feel it in the floor board of my feet sometimes when it happens.
