D30 diff centre differences

Hi guys I am in the process of regearing my d30 from 3.55:1 to 3.73:1 and I have run out of adjustment with the carrier shims (can't get the ring gear to mesh fully with the pinion) so I looked at the parts catalogue and noticed that the 3.55 carrier and the 3.73 carrier have different part numbers so what I want to know is what EXACTLY is the difference between the two? Is the ring gear mounting thicker or is it simply further towards the centre of the pinion?

The D30 carrier break is at 3.55/3.73, you need the 3.73 and up carrier.
