27 to 29 spline???

Can a 27 spline 8.25 axle be changed to a 29 spline???

Maybe just change the spiders?? Or is there more?

ASking for a friend with a TJ..........

Axles,carrier,and spiders all need changed.
BTW:I dont believe the TJ ever came with a 8.25 axle!

FYI:the friend is shopping xjs but currently owns a TJ

so axles carrier and spiders can be done for a complete swap... with no other modification, correct?

Yes, and by spiders, you should include side gears also, but I'm sure you know that.

Actually, I'm not even sure you need the spiders as long as you have the side gears.

BTW, if you find a 29 spline donor axle, it's almost as easy to just swap the whole axle in.

c8.25 are a dime a dozen in both varieties. Head to a u pull it yard and find a newer XJ with the 29 spline, cheaper and less work really.

If you are going to install a locker or limited slip any time soon, you can just
order the unit for a 29 spline and get new axles and your set to go.
