quick easy U-bolt question

what size U-bolts.. I know they are 1/2" thick, but when i order.. what are the other two diminsions i need?



I already bought some, but they wont work.. they are 1/2" x 2-7/8" x 9"
well, the threading is too short.. and they are extremely long.. i need another inch of threading on each side.. should i order 8"? or 7''?

You need length and axle tube diameter - for a 44, it's going to be 2.75" diameter tubes, not sure on the length. Add axle tube diameter to spring perch height at center to thickness of leaf pack, this is the maximum length of the unthreaded portion. Add on thickness of the plate and washers/nuts and that's the minimum length of the whole U-bolt including threads - you probably want a couple more inches after that just to make assembly easier.

Dont hesitate to step-up to 9/16" bolts either.

i bought mine from ruffstuff, i think they're 5/8, i've never worried about them, i would get the plates as well if i were to do it again

.5 x 2.75 x 9 is what my RE's measured. I ended up cutting at least an inch off the length.

That's with a D44, RE Springpack, and a 6 degree shim.
