PO443

98 4.0 Getting code PO443 (evap system purge valve circuit) Changed valve and rusted line near tank - no luck. Searched and found 1 post where computer fixed it. My question is - After the code is erased is it normal for the check engine light to come on immediately with the turn of the key or should there be a slight delay while the evap system is checked?
Mine comes on instantly and I am thinking this may be an indication that the computer is the problem.

That means it's a hard fault. Circuit includes computer, wiring, component. Is the wiring open or shorted?

Try another gas cap.

No, the code is for the circuit, not the system function.
