President Obama said:
In a 40-minute speech Saturday that ranged across the multitude of issues, the president declared the United States a "nation of the Pacific. Asia and the United States are not separated by this great ocean; we are bound by it."

What the heck does that mean?

You do the math.......

I guess when your policies are Socialist, your advisers are Marxist, it's pretty easy to see who you really are.

.....what the hell has this country gotten itself into....

A lot of commerce flows across that ocean and most of everything we buy is made over there. We need to cooperate with the Pacific Rim neighbors to protect the natural resources in the ocean from encroachment by foreign fishing fleets. China & both Koreas have more ice capable vessels than we do. With the Arctic Ocean thawing for longer periods the great wealth of minerals underneath it previously protected from explotation are now exposed. The US is NOT in control of our northern boundary and exclusive economic zone.* We need to play nice and not be antagonistic until we have more capability.

That's my point of view on the subject.

* including an EEZ dispute with Canada.

I think you read way too much into it and gave the Prez more credit than due. He mentioned nothing about natural resources in the quote that Ron posted....

:dunno:

That was worth repeating.

In diplomacy, sometimes things are better left unsaid. The US has a policy and the President has been briefed on it regarding the Arctic and northern Pacific Oceans (Bearing and Barrett Seas). I don't know all of it, just the pieces that led to concerns at my last place of employment.
