Adjust pinion angle with weld on sprint mounts

First post here-- greetings. My plan is to use an OME 2" lift and SYE on my project (1988 XJ, 5.3L, 4l60E, 231, 8.8 rear). I'm swapping to an 8.8. Should I adjust the pinion angle by changing where the spring mounts are welded or just leave them stock and shim if necessary? From my understanding, an SYE isn't really necessary on this, but my thinking, is why not go ahead, since I'm doing everything else. Any functional reason an SYE isn't good with 2" lift? Thanks for any ideas.

Welcome to the forum.

If you are swapping to Ford 8.8, they are not bolt in. You will need to weld on new spring purchases to bolt into an XJ, so it would be a good idea to adjust the pinion angle when you are doing so.
