Brake lights not functional

So i found out yesterday that my brake lights on my 91 cherokee laredo arent working. Is there a fuse that i need to be lookign for or is the brake swicth toast? i was looking at it yesterday and i couldnt figure out how to remove it. is there a nute back there?

on my 89 with a 2 wire brake light switch all you need to do is bridge the two wire together to bypass the switch for testing. if the brake lights come on, then the switch is bad or just making bad contact.

is your a 2 wire brake light switch or is it a combination brake light/cruise control switch?
