My 97+ Cherokee's overhead display (compass, temp, mpg) quit working. It is hard to find replacement from XJ. I have heard, that GC 96-98 has the same display (readout or how to call it). Does anybody know is it true?
Thank You!
I'm not sure, but after a certain year they are completely incompatible - the later grand cherokees use the PCI bus for BCM/ECU/TCU/OHC communication instead of the older CCD bus. I do know that a ZJ OHC (overhead console) module I pulled a while ago said something like "XJ (black) ZJ (red)" on the casing so I am pretty sure the difference is the color of the connector and the firmware on the embedded microprocessor on the board.
