brake lights quit working...

1987 XJ 4.0 AW4 231

Ok well i searched and found a few topics but i have check it all and still not working.
My rear turn lights work, dont flash but come on, no brake lights, and no hazzards. I have tail lights just no brake lights.

Have you checked power to the brake light switch? If power then press the pedal and see if the brake light switch works.

My guess bad brake light switch .

Ok well they just quit working again... This is getting irritating!!!!

My 90 FSM says test with brake pedal depressed:

Measure voltage at switch terminal A = battery voltage switch is Ok; if not repair open from hazard/stop fuse.

Measure voltage at switch terminal B = battery voltage switch is Ok; if not replace brake switch.
